Terms of Service
Version 2026-09-21
This is a working draft. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and GreatJob is not yet open for real bookings. Read it, but do not rely on it.
Who we are and what we do
GreatJob is an Australian marketplace that introduces customers to local service providers and holds the payment for a job until the work is done.
We are not the provider. We do not carry out the work, we do not supervise it, and we do not employ the people who do it. Each provider runs their own business and is responsible for the work they agree to do.
These terms are between you and GreatJob. They cover your use of the platform. The agreement to do a particular job is between the customer and the provider.
Your account
You need an account to post a task, receive quotes, quote for work or book a provider. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract.
Give us accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has them.
One person, one account. Do not use someone else's account or let anyone use yours.
Posting a task and receiving quotes
When you post a task we invite providers who can do that kind of work in your area. You can hold up to three active quotes at a time, and you can replace a quote for free after it is declined, withdrawn or expires.
A quote is valid for 72 hours unless the provider says otherwise. A task that is not booked expires after 7 days; you can post it again.
Quotes are the provider's own prices. We do not set them, and we do not guarantee that you will receive any.
Booking and paying
Accepting a quote creates a booking and starts a protected payment. Your payment is held by our payment provider and is not released to the provider until the job is done.
You have 30 minutes to complete payment once you accept; after that the reservation is released and the quote returns to the list.
The price you accept is the price you pay. GreatJob charges customers no booking fee, no connection fee and no percentage fee. We are paid by providers.
When the provider marks the job complete you have 48 hours to raise a problem. If you do not, the payment is released to the provider automatically.
We do not hold your money in our own bank account. Payments are processed and held by a licensed payment provider.
What providers pay
Providers on the Flex plan pay 12% of the job price on the first completed job with a customer, and 5% on later jobs with that same customer.
Providers on the Pro plan pay a subscription and 5% on every job.
A first job with a customer that the provider themselves brought to GreatJob — by their own card, QR code or link — is charged at 5%, not 12%.
A provider's plan never affects where they appear in search or matching, and is never shown to customers.
The fee that applies to a booking is fixed at the moment the booking is paid for, and is shown to the provider before they quote.
Cancelling, changes and refunds
A booking can be cancelled under the cancellation policy shown to you at the time you book. What you get back depends on who cancelled, why, and how close it was to the start.
Changes to the work after booking are agreed between you and the provider as a variation, and are recorded against the booking.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including your right to a repair, replacement or refund where a consumer guarantee is not met.
Reviews and conduct
You can leave a review for 14 days after a job is completed. Reviews must be honest and based on your own experience of that job.
Do not post anything misleading, abusive, discriminatory or unlawful, and do not post someone else's personal information.
We may remove content or restrict an account that breaks these rules. Where we do, we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
Messages and contact details
Before a booking is paid for, messages between a customer and a provider go through GreatJob, and we block or mask contact details, bank details and requests to pay off the platform. This protects both sides while the introduction is ours.
A provider may choose to publish their own phone number, email and links on their own GreatJob page. Those are shown only to people who arrive from that provider's own card, QR code or link — never on the plain public address, never in search results, and never to a customer we introduced who has a task, invitation or quote open with that provider.
Taking a job off the platform after we introduced you is a breach of these terms.
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, descriptions and other content you upload. You give us permission to host and display that content for the purpose of running GreatJob, including on a provider's public page where you are the provider.
Do not upload anything you do not have the right to use.
Privacy
We handle personal information in line with our Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
We release a customer's exact service address to the provider only after a booking is paid for.
What we are and are not responsible for
We are responsible for running the platform with reasonable care and skill.
We are not a party to the agreement between a customer and a provider, and we are not responsible for the quality, timing, safety or legality of the work itself. We check what we reasonably can, but we do not warrant any provider's skills, licences or insurance.
We do not exclude or limit any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, we limit it to re-supplying the platform service or paying the cost of doing so.
If these terms change
We may change these terms, and we may change the linked Fee Schedule and Cancellation Policy. We may not change any other document by this route.
We will only make a change to protect a legitimate business interest — keeping the platform safe and lawful, meeting a change in the law or in what a payment provider requires of us, covering a real increase in the cost of providing the service, or adding or altering a feature. A change made only to increase our revenue is not permitted.
Any change must be reasonable and no broader than is reasonably necessary to protect that interest.
We will tell you before a change takes effect, and we will give you more notice the more the change affects you. A change to fees or to how money is held will always be told to you in advance.
If you do not accept a change, you may close your account immediately, at no cost and with nothing forfeited. Money already held for a booking is dealt with under the terms that applied when you booked.
The terms in force when a booking was paid for continue to govern that booking. A change never applies backwards to a job you have already booked.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time. If you are a provider, you can take a copy of your page, your photos and your reviews with you.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to. We will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
Closing an account does not cancel a booking that is already paid for, and does not affect records we must keep.
If something goes wrong
Tell us through the app first. We will look at what happened, and we can hold a payment while a dispute is being worked out.
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. This does not take away any right you have to bring a matter in your own state or territory, or to a relevant ombudsman or regulator.
